TRX Suspension Training
There is a lot that can be said about the TRX Suspension Trainer, but one thing is for sure, it is the simplest and most versatile piece of equipment in today’s fitness world. It was originally designed by a Navy Seal who needed to stay in shape despite the limited space and equipment. Since then it has exploded in the fitness industry and it is currently being used nationwide by professional sports teams, coaches and top trainers. Here at Fitness Results our trainers love to incorporate TRX suspension training, and with our new Specialty Classes we now offer TRX Suspension Training Classes as well as TRX Rip Training Classes!
TRX Training involves using one’s own bodyweight and gravity as resistance. Using this simple concept, and a pair of TRX straps, you can complete a total body workout anywhere! You can easily switch exercises quickly to work different muscle groups just by switching positions or adjusting the angle. No matter what your goals are, TRX training is so versatile that it can help you reach several goals at once! Whether it’s building lean muscle, building bone density, power, coordination, flexibility and most importantly core and joint stability, TRX suspension training targets everything. The best part of it is that it forces you to use your core in every exercise. Your core is not just your abs, but it’s a group of muscles located around your midsection that helps keep you stable, balanced and coordinated. Your core actually consists of your abs, lower back, pelvis, glutes, back and chest muscles which help stabilize the spine and its surrounding areas. This type of training is functional and more translatable in the real world, since we have to use our core in everyday movements.
TRX training is perfect for everyone of all fitness levels, and can be easily modified by simply changing the angle (walking towards or away from the anchor point). This is a truly safe piece of equipment since anyone can start, and as you progress and grow stronger, your increased core and joint stability will help prevent future injury. Don’t take my word for it though; this is something you definitely have to try out for yourself! Please stop by Fitness Results for any questions regarding the TRX Suspension Trainer or the TRX Suspension Training Classes we offer.
Exercise and Nutrition as Preventive Medicine
What if you went to your doctor because you were not feeling very well and upon completion of a thorough examination, the doctor simply prescribes a healthy workout regimen and nutritious meal plan as your treatment? It seems as though this is going to become a more frequent occurrence for preventative healthcare. As more and more individuals realize that they are not living very healthy lifestyles which could inevitably bring about diseases such as Type 2 Diabetes, they may also be realizing that some form of self treatment is not that difficult to implement. Does it really take a doctor to tell someone that they need to eat healthy foods and exercise in order to prevent sickness? Whether it does or not, that is what doctors are going to be doing as is explained in an LA Times article published on the 9th of January 2013 by Melissa Healy.
Basically, the article explains that those that are obese and/or at risk of developing Type 2 Diabetes will be “prescribed” the Diabetes Prevention Program. This program simply consists of a 12 week session in which a coach teaches the individuals to lose five to seven percent of their body weight, limit fat and caloric intake, track and control portion size and overall food intake, and ensure that they are getting at least 150 minutes of exercise each week.
Those that participated in and adhered to the aforementioned program were able to reach weight loss goals in approximately three months and were able to maintain a healthy weight for more than a year. The results were that they mitigated their risk of developing Type 2 Diabetes by 58 percent, as was published in the New England Journal of Medicine in 2002.
This article also touches on how the government might implement these practices in regard to healthcare and insurance. For example, these programs for weight loss and lifestyle modification will be available to patients through their health insurance. So health insurance could essentially pay for your gym membership. The take-away from that would be that in utilizing these preventative techniques, the government will be preventing illness rather than treating it at a greater cost later on.
Nonetheless, we all need to eat healthy, nutrient rich, properly portioned meals. it is also very important that we exercise regularly. We don’t need to visit a doctor to figure that out. Visit your local gym and talk to a Personal Trainer. They can help you on your way to a much healthier lifestyle, not to mention diabetes prevention before it becomes a concern at all. There is a saying that goes like this: “If you do not make time for exercise now, you will have to make time for illness later!” Make time to live a healthy lifestyle NOW.

Meet our New Trainer Erasmo Flores
Fitness Results has found yet another amazing trainer ready to help you reach your fitness goals. Erasmo Flores’ passion for fitness traces back to his time spent in the United States Army. Please join us in welcoming Erasmo!
Erasmo Flores joined the United States Army in September of 1999 and quickly gained rank through motivation and dedication to duty. Erasmo always enjoyed the physical training aspects of the Army lifestyle. He made fitness a priority by consistently earning perfect scores of 300 on each Army Physical Fitness Test which consisted of push-ups, sit-ups and 2 mile run for time. During Primary Leadership Development Erasmo achieved a commendation from the Commanding General for the overall highest Army Physical Fitness Test score out of the entire class of approximately 200 students he was also a Distinguished Honor Graduate.
Erasmo graduated from various physically rigorous Army schools including Air Assault School, U.S. Army Sapper Leader Course, and U.S. Army Ranger School. In 2007, Erasmo brought great credit and honor to the 25th Infantry Division when he and his team mate won the Third Annual Best Sapper Competition being named, “Best Sapper 2007!” The competition kicks off with a non-standard Army Physical Fitness Test which pull-ups are included. The team then moves through a course of 50 miles in 50 hours on foot with a variety of obstacles and technical tasks. The competitors complete for points on a course is designed to exhaust physically, mentally and creatively all while carrying 60+ pound Rucksack (gear bag). Some of the physical challenges included; swimming across a lake with a packed rucksack, rappelling a 40-foot tower and 100-foot cliff, day and night navigation problems, obstacles that need to be destroyed with demolitions, transporting a Skedco litter patient and rendering first-aid to casualties. The final gut-check comes the morning of the last competition day with an X-miles run, named so because the competitors have no idea of the run’s length. This run can be anywhere from 8-12 miles, also aligned with the physically exhausting mystery events.
Erasmo has always been a great inspiration to his peers and fellow soldiers for physical fitness training. Erasmo left the U.S. Army and now pursues the civilian side of physical fitness training. In his spare time Erasmo enjoys creating drawings and painting, running, biking, hiking and he especially loves when he can get to the beach to catch awesome waves bodyboarding.
It is my duty to help my fellow man or women to achieve their fitness, health and lifestyle goals. I have always been a source of motivation for those that I train and those I simply assist with moral support to achieve their life goals. I am proud to be a member of the Fitness Results team and am looking forward to helping you realize your own “Fitness Results!”

Planned Eating on a Budget
By: Yvette Patterson
I’m a coupon clipper so you can imagine how difficult it can be to spend a few extra dollars on a healthy alternative, when there is no coupon involved. Good nutrition goes hand in hand with training and exercise …or at least it should. Try to remember the time and energy you put into creating your healthy body when you grocery shop. How important is good nutrion to you? The more important good nutrition rates to you the more you will be willing to spend a little extra on eating right. Would you agree spending money on things you enjoy or feel passionate about is easy to do? Figure out for yourself how much extra money you are willing to spend on nutrition dense food. If your normal grocery bill is $100 a week would an extra $20 break the bank?
Along with a few extra bucks you also need to be willing to spend a little extra time in planning. Before heading to the grocery store plan out your meals for the week. Check your pantry and then write out a grocery list based on what you will need to accomplish the meals you planned. Remember that convenience items like pre-cut veggies typically will increase your expenses. Be ready to wash, peal and chop your fruits and veggies when you return from the store. A little extra prep will go a long way in helping you achieve more nutritious eating. Watch the prices between organic and conventional produce, you will be surprised that sometimes the difference is a few cents. It’s worth spending the extra
money on organic produce when is available. Pay attention to the season of produce, sales are better when produce is in its peak season,
buy lots, wash and freeze it for later. As for proteins they too have a cycle typically every 4-5 weeks you will find chicken breast, pork loin, lean ground beef, etc on sale so stock up and freeze. I personally try to purchase my meats and dairy all-natural, hormone free because I am a Mom to 3 great kids who do not need any extra help in their growth cycle! Cereals and some grains also have their own sale cycle typically 4 months so if you have the room, stock up for savings. Some would say invest in a freezer but I don’t think its necessary since the sale cycles are so frequent. A freezer may cost you more in usage than the savings you generate depending on the age of the unit.
If your confused on what foods are nutritious hire a nutritionist or talk to your trainer at fitness results. By hiring a trainer or More

Loose Weight …Yes “Loose”
By Yvette Patterson & excerpt from www.fitnessresults.com
The idea of this makes me laugh because a large group of people actually Google the term “loose weight.” The definition of loose is “not firmly or tightly fixed into place; detached or able to be detached.” The verb for loose is “set free, release.” Yes that is what we want to do right; set the weight free, release it from our existence. I’d like for the weight to be so loose it falls off because it’s not tightly fixed in place. Well guess what?, weight is looser than you think and with the right program of weight training, healthy eating choices and determination it can be permanent.
I have used many trainers throughout the years but it was not until I trained with Lance McCullough at Fitness Results that I finally started to see real results in my body, energy and overall health. Lance and his trainers at Fitness Results educate their clients about weight training and healthy choices. With a little education you can be on your way to loose weight to be lost forever!
Here is some information to ponder from the trainers at Fitness Results:
When you lose weight, the scale and your clothes size will change but you may not be improving your Body Mass Index (BMI). BMI, is the percentage of your total body weight that is fat. So although losing weight is great its the BMI that is a much better measure of overall health and fitness than the scale.
Weight loss is made up of equal parts of fat and muscle. When you lose weight by cutting calorie intake without simultaneously training, your setting yourself up for failure down the road. Now follow this, if you are not in a weight training program, you will not maintain muscle. If you do not maintain muscle and lose weight due to reduced calorie intake, your body can actually have a higher percentage of fat than before your diet began. Since this can happen over and over in your lifetime; when you consciously lose pounds without weight training, you can literally diet yourself into obesity .
So how do you change the process so your losing equal amounts of muscle and fat? Weight training! Stimulate muscle development with resistance weight training. Weight training has two benefits; it decrease body fat percentage and build calories burned. The extra muscle you build continually burns calories, which increases your metabolic rate and helps you keep unwanted weight off.
Yes you can lose weight by diet alone but to have lasting weight loss you must add in exercise. To get the most benefit from your diet and exercise routine make sure weight training is a main component .
Fitness Results emphasizes improved BMI with a carefully prescribed, low-key program of weight training, aerobics and nutrition. If you’ve been frustrated with the results of programs you’ve tried in the past, we can guarantee that your experience at Fitness Results will be different. Work with us and watch your body finally respond.
